Discover Costa Rica at the Eden Project
Join us on 24 and 25 January for an unforgettable weekend celebrating the extraordinary country of Costa Rica – one of the most biologically diverse places on the planet and a world leader in sustainability, conservation and eco-tourism.
Across two inspiring days, immerse yourself in the story of Costa Rica’s remarkable transformation – from a country devastated by deforestation into a global pioneer in the protection and regeneration of its natural resources. Learn about Costa Rica’s biodiversity, trade and eco-tourism and hear the story of Costa Rican chocolate – complete with tastings! You can also take part in a relaxing free yoga class.
We've created this special event in partnership with Costa Rica Tourism, bringing the sights, flavours and stories of this incredible country to the heart of Cornwall.
Head on an immersive rainforest adventure
Throughout the weekend, join one of our Costa Rican Experience Tours in the lush surroundings of our Rainforest Biome, led by one of our expert guides.
Discover the fruits and flavours of Costa Rica. Along the way, our guides will bring the stories of these plants to life, revealing their cultural, ecological and culinary importance.
These free 40-minute tours run on both days at 11am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm and don’t require booking. Simply head to just inside the entrance of the Rainforest Biome, where your guide will meet you before the tour begins.
Step into the world of chocolate
Discover the story of Costa Rican chocolate with an interactive talk from Cornish chocolatiers, Chocolarder. Discover the fascinating journey from bean to bar, exploring how cacao is grown, harvested and transformed into chocolate.
You'll get the the chance to see cacao growing in our Rainforest Biome and to taste artisan chocolate crafted from Costa Rican cacao beans.
Chocolarder is one of only a handful of bean-to-bar chocolate makers in the UK – and the only one based in Cornwall. Since 2012, they’ve been producing the finest chocolate with a strong commitment to sustainability, ethical sourcing and complete transparency.
These free talks take place in the Rainforest Biome at 11.45am, 12.45pm, 2.45pm and 3.45pm, straight after the Costa Rican Experience Tour.
Try delicious Costa Rican flavours
Across both days, enjoy our Costa Rican inspired, fruit-based mocktail which will be served at our Baobab cart in the Rainforest Biome.
Indulge in a choice of two Costa Rican inspired food options and discover our comforting dishes. Food will be served daily in the Biome Kitchen.
Take a yoga class
On Saturday 24 January, take time out to reconnect with yourself in a free yoga session set within the serene surroundings of our Mediterranean Biome. This gentle session is designed to help you slow down, breathe deeply and support your overall wellbeing – all while immersed in nature.
Our yoga session is completely free and takes place between 8.30–9.45am before the Biome is open to the public. Spaces are extremely limited, so early booking is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment.
Learn about our regenerative work in Costa Rica
Since 2018, we have worked in close partnership with communities in Costa Rica, supporting long-term change for both the people and the land they live on. One of the projects we have worked on is a regenerative agroforestry programme, providing farmers with thousands of cacao plants, practical training in sustainable farming methods, and direct connections to ethical buyers. This project aims to ensure sustainability and greater resilience for both livelihoods and landscapes.
Free entry offer
If you live in Cornwall or Devon and are an NHS or other blue light worker, care professional, educator, part of the armed forces, charity worker or volunteer, you and your family can enjoy free entry to the Eden Project on selected weekends in January.
